The Owners

Rob and Marlene Lesage are the forefront of the business. Marlene has always been an avid horse lover and grew a great passion for them as a young girl. She often mentions her cousin Leslie when bringing up fond memories of their childhood years playing with horses. Leslie’s pony ’Whoopie‘ was handwalked to Laird fair for their first ever event at age of 9. Her love only grew from there and extended to both of her daughters. Her time and dedication put into the farm never goes unnoticed and she continues to run events such as Bon Soo, Rotary Fest and help out with lessons at home whenever she can. We are also deeply appreciative of Rob, who has tirelessly put time and energy into establishing the farm and continuously puts in the work day after day. His engineering background has made such an impact on building the farm. He puts the farm first along with his horses and his kids, we certainly would not be where we are today without him! A huge thank you goes out to these two!

The Lesage’s

How it all began - Marlene’s passion for horses stems from her love for them as a little girl. Her commitment to her daughter’s careers as young athletes was second to none. The horse journey began in North Bay, Ontario at a small schooling stable, Stone Oaks Stables in Powassen, Ontario. Her eldest son Tyler, began riding before the girls and displayed such a commitment to the sport and fell in love with his first horse Ruby at the age of 13. Both girls started riding soon after their brother and both quickly grew to fall in love with the sport. Over the years, they spent time training with numerous coaches in the North Bay Area. The move up North was made to be closer to family, with that, a deal was made by Marlene to ensure there would be room for their horses in the backyard. Fast forward 15 years and you have Hidden Hills Stables.  A farm created by blood, sweat and tears. Rob, his brothers and his sons spent months clearing, building and making the dream a reality. We are so fortunate to have this little piece of paradise the whole family partakes in.

The Sister’s

Both Tory and Tatum work together to establish riding programs and prioritize bringing more opportunity to the community. They work both as an instructor, trainer and manage the horse care around the facility. This ensures a solid foundation in not only the welfare of the horse but the progression of the programs available to students as well.

Tatum continues to excel in not only the jumper ring, but in the western classes as well. Her competitive nature and natural ability allows her to communicate with the horses effectively and they always seem to want to give so much to her in return. Tatum shares the same passion for horses as her Mother and is always wanting to learn more in and out of the saddle in all disciplines.

Tory set out to accomplish goals in the field of international show jumping and has been a travelling groom for the past 10 years. Her fulfillment comes from the behind-the-scenes action in the sport and taking care of the horses whilst working alongside top veterinarians and farriers alike. The level and quality of care is a priority to her and she utilizes all her resources to ensure the best for her own.

Tatum

Tatum has been passionate about horses since the age of five, and that lifelong dedication shines through in every aspect of her work at the barn. With a strong background in both English and Western disciplines, she has successfully competed on the North East Trillium Circuit, in various Michigan circuits, and both the Angelstone Silver & Gold Series in Southern Ontario.

Her experience extends beyond the show ring, Tatum has started her own two-year-old Quarter Horse and now enjoys the thrill of competing in Western gaming as well. She loves sharing that excitement with others, especially young riders. With a warm and encouraging teaching style, she believes horses have an incredible ability to build confidence, responsibility, and joy in children.

At the barn, Tatum runs the lesson program and Little Tykes program, creating opportunities for riders of all ages to connect with horses, learn new skills, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.

Tory

I’ve always had a passion for the sport and with the encouragement of my brother and support from my parents, I was fortunate to have spent 10 years in the thick of the sport at the 5* level of show jumping. My grooming career brought me all over the world from the beach in La Baule, France to Cowboy-country Spruce Meadows, and spending most winters in Wellington, Fl. Travelling horse show to horse show with amazing athletes has truly been the highlight of my career. From looking up to these top trainers as a young girl to working for them was a dream come true. I have learned and earned many skills in horse care and witnessed behind-the-scenes of the sport in training methods, grooming techniques, rehab processes, travel planning, horse behaviour, sport horse soundness and performance. Working with top farriers and veterinarians and learning from my peers have been the building blocks and led to lasting friendships with so many knowledgeable people. I am very grateful to bring so much of this experience back home with me and share with the horse community.

Ava

My name is Ava Billingsley. I began my own riding lessons in 2012 and became part of the Hidden Hills family in 2015 - their earlier years! Over the course of my riding journey, I have attended many clinics and have shown Hunter/Jumper up to the 1.0m. I began coaching in 2021 and in those years have learned so much on building riders with confidence and skill.

My favourite part is watching my lesson students learning to pay attention to detail! While stepping back from showing, I now love and ride my two quarter horses, Lainey and Monty. Hidden Hills is such an amazing, welcoming community to be apart of, I am so grateful to continue to have their support!

Hailey

Aaniii my name is Hailey, I learned naturally with my mother who has been a horse lady for 40 years. We currently have 2 mares and 2 geldings, her mare Sally just welcomed a colt George this August!

I have gained great knowledge over the past 3 years working, living & breathing horses at Hidden Hills.

I have been involved in all facets of the barn including coaching, special needs program, trail rides, events, barn management & even running the show when everyone's away at competition!

I'm currently working on my EC levels & look forward to continuing to introduce beginners to the programs!

Jodi

My name is Jodi, aka Hailey‘s Mom.

I have been working with horses for over 45 years in all different areas and levels of the sport. Last year I joined Hidden Hills Stables and thoroughly enjoy my time there. Together we became a great team and we accomplish so much. I jump in where I can to help and especially enjoy the Little Tykes Program.

The horses at Hidden Hills are wonderful to work with and I really enjoy spending my mornings at the farm.
